we are super pumped about collaborating with two amazing groups of students & professors from the university of alabama. this past friday both groups made the trek to the safehouse museum and made presentations about their progress so far. bill dooley and the students from the art department presented pieces they had selected from the Paul R. Jones collection for our first upcoming gallery show that will be held at the end of may! the show will remain at the safe house gallery for 6-8 weeks so everyone HAS to come and check it out this summer!! We are so lucky to have this opportunity!

we are also collaborating with andrew grace and the students involved with “documenting justice” at UA. the students are gathering oral histories from local footsoldiers that were involved in the civil rights movement. they are producing short films that will then be displayed on ipads throughout the safe house museum. visitors will be able to meet these people and follow their stories throughout their tour. we feel that the oral histories are an important new layer to the safe house museum and will provide visitors with a more personal experience.
